United Way of King County Opposes Acts of Antisemitism

By United Way of King County, on November 22, 2023 | In News, Racial Equity

United Way condemns the recent acts of antisemitism and hate against the Jewish community, both worldwide and locally, with the most recent incident being the anti-Israel vandalism at a Mercer Island synagogue.

We categorically reject any messages or behaviors that may be framed as opposition to Israel when in reality, they mask underlying sentiments of opposition or hatred towards Jewish people. Our commitment is unwavering in ensuring that our organization remains a space where differing perspectives can be discussed with civility, while actively opposing any form of discrimination, including anti-Semitism.

We often try to make ourselves feel better by rationalizing actions and statements as opinions on world events when in fact they are antisemitism.

We as a community must address such issues and hold ourselves accountable. It is our expectation that our region is one where differences are discussed with civility and that we don’t violate our humanity in engaging in antisemitism or identity-based oppression and hate.
