Free Tax Prep: Look Who’s Back
During this year’s tax season, United Way of King County provided services at 17 Free Tax Preparation Campaign sites across the region. Our 500+ volunteers completed more than 9,300 tax returns and helped clients receive more than $12.45 million in refunds while leveraging the state’s Working Families Tax Credit program.
And we’re not finished yet.
We understand that many people still need tax preparation services following April’s tax deadline. That’s why we’ve reopened a half dozen tax sites (five in person, one virtual) to address your filing needs.
“Sites are back up,” said Ryan McFerran, United Way program manager of tax credits & financial stability. “We put them back up for anybody who filed an extension for their taxes, anybody who missed or did not need to meet the April 18 tax deadline and for anybody who missed out filing for the Working Families Tax Credit this year.”
Our site reopenings are part of United Way’s service to the community during our 20th year of free tax preparation. With our partners at the IRS and the City of Seattle, United Way’s Free Tax Prep Campaign helps people making $80,000 or less take advantage of earned income tax credits, the nation’s most vital anti-poverty measure.
“Love your service and we tell everyone and have been using you for years,” said client Oliver Holmes, who took advantage of our service this year. “Everyone is very nice and prepared to help us.”
