Join us for a Volunteer & Learn opportunity to learn about United Way of King County’s food security work, and participate in a volunteer opportunity in support of United Way’s food bank partners.
Learn: Join us virtually on April 7th, 5:30pm – 6:30pm, to learn about United Way’s hunger relief work. Hunger in King County has tripled since the pandemic began, and COVID-19 has deepened inequities that already existed in our community. You will learn about the landscape of food insecurity in King County, how the emergency food system is responding, and how United Way is leveraging innovative partnerships with DoorDash and 30+ local food banks to deliver grocery boxes to over 5,000 households each week.
Volunteer: Follow up this virtual learning experience with an in-person volunteer shift the following week at a local food bank to see the emergency food system in action! We encourage you to sign up for a shift at one of the below food banks:
– Multi-Service Center – Federal Way
These food banks may require a volunteer application and/or an orientation before a shift, so please take a look at their website for more information around this and about their COVID-19 precautions.
This opportunity is for young professionals as part of the Emerging Leaders 365 program. You will need wifi and a screen/device you can use to participate in the virtual call.
