Ethan Stowell and Legendary Coach P.J. Carlesimo Tip Off New Season of United Way’s Eat, Drink & Be Generous Fundraisers to Support the Community and the Restaurant Industry
(SEATTLE)— Ethan Stowell and legendary basketball coach P.J. Carlesimo will tip off the new season of United Way of King County’s Eat, Drink & Be Generous series of virtual cocktail hours and Chef’s Tables to raise funds for the community and support the restaurant industry.
The Eat, Drink & Be Generous events will offer a way for people to contribute to alleviate food and housing insecurity faced by the community, particularly by Black, Indigenous and people of color. Thanks to sponsorship from Microsoft, all the proceeds from ticket sales and donations at these events will go directly to support the community.
Ethan Stowell and Steve Hooper, Ethan Stowell Restaurants’ co-owners and this year’s campaign co-chairs, were instrumental in envisioning the format for the Be Generous events planned for the next few months.
The first Be Generous event of the year will be on Jan. 26 and will be hosted by Stowell and Carlesimo. Stowell will demonstrate how to cook one of his famous pasta dishes. Attendees will learn about United Way’s COVID-19 relief efforts and will have an opportunity to donate.
On Feb. 4, Métier Brewing Co. will host a cocktail hour with Rodney Hines. Guests will learn about the brewing process, participate in a tasting with head brewers and learn how Métier is redefining the brewery industry. Métier Brewing Co. is the only Black-owned brewery in the state. Attendees will also learn about United Way’s food relief and rental assistance efforts amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, on Feb. 9, Robin Wehl Martin from Hello Robin and Donna Moodie, owner of Marjorie Restaurant, will host a cookies and cocktails fun-filled evening as the duo bakes some treats and mixes cocktails. Guest will learn about United Way’s Bridge to Finish program, which helps low-income community college students graduate by providing services like emergency financial grants and housing assistance.
