Your donation to United Way of King County helps keep older adults active, engaged, healthy and independent.

Community issues

  • King County's fastest growing age groups are people aged 45-64 and 75 and older.
  • More than 29% of older adults live alone and 75% of those are women.
  • Depression is common among older adults, affecting as many as 20% of people over age 65.
  • Higher-than-average poverty rates are found among older women, elders of color and the eldest of our older adults.

We help:

  • Connect older adults to community services through 1.888-4ELDERS and United Way 2-1-1
  • Eliminate hunger and malnutrition among older adults through group meals at senior centers and Meals on Wheels
  • Keep older adults as physically and mentally healthy as possible
  • Enable older adults to live as independently as possible
  • Engage older adults in volunteering, mentoring and other ways to connect to the community
