The Fight Against Youth Homelessness
On Thursday, July 28, 2012, the White House honored Tricia Raikes and the Raikes Foundation with a Champion of Change award for their work to end youth homelessness. Tricia was then part of a panel discussion facilitated by Secretary for Housing and Urban Development Shaun Donovan.
Tricia and her husband, Jeff, now CEO of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, were United Way of King County’s 2006–2007 campaign co-chairs. Both Tricia and Jeff remain an active part of United Way’s work in our community, and their Raikes Foundation will be a central partner in the coming months as we ramp up efforts to ensure that youth and young adults never become homeless, or recover quickly if they do.
Congratulations, Tricia and all this year's Champions of Change.
